About us
OONA is the Anglo-Saxon version of the name Agnes – and Agnes is our daughter, the light of our lives and the source of a few white hairs (as all children tend to be). I wish I could say Agnes loves wool, but let’s be honest – she doesn’t (yet). Still, as she grows up, she’s starting to enjoy picking colors, buttons, joining us at fairs, and meeting amazing people.
Oona is about the children of today and tomorrow – and also about the children of yesterday. Why? Because the children of yesterday now have children of their own. And if you feel anything like I do, you probably get a bit nostalgic and emotional when choosing clothes for your kids or your friends’ kids. That’s the mission of OONA garments – to go beyond looks and become part of their adventures, to keep them comfy while they’re chasing butterflies, climbing trees, or scooting around at lunchtime before heading to a party or dinner.
We care deeply about the world we’re leaving behind for our children. That’s why our production and material sourcing are designed to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.
Our materials are as kind as they come: merino wool from Italy, and muslin, cotton, and viscose fabrics woven in Romania.
All our garments are produced locally, in limited series, in workshops that value their people, offer fair conditions, and pay competitive wages.
And the OONA tags? They’re a little... different. They’re actually small, scented disks infused with moth-repelling essential oils (lavender, clove, and patchouli). You can use them in wardrobes or when storing clothes between seasons. You can even refresh them with your favorite essential oil. And if they end up in the trash – no worries, they’re made from baking soda and starch.
OONA Kids garments are so loveable they can carry countless stories – your children’s, their friends’, and their cousins’. So let’s honor them with the stories they’ll collect.
With friendship,
Violeta & Agnes
